Is it a PDA?
The PocketSurfer™ is a dedicated
Internet device. However, it does
provide access to any web enabled
PDA functions such as calendars,
address books and email.
Why would I need this device instead
of my PDA or wireless phone which
both access the Web?
PDAs focus on several applications
from contact information to
calendars and schedules – the
primary focus is not Internet
access. PocketSurfer’s™ main focus
is to deliver the real Web
experience to the user, faster
than any other wireless Web
technology.
Why would I want to carry more than
one device?
Most people rely on multiple
devices to serve their needs for a
number of reasons: lifestyle, form
factor, complexity, ease of use,
and price. The most popular
handheld devices are the lightest
and smallest. Convergence of
multiple functions and
applications add volume as well as
cost to the device. PocketSurfer™
provides a full web experience
quickly, easily and affordably in
one small, lightweight unit that
compliments your existing handheld
devices.
Are there any other devices like
this on the market?
No. Nothing compares to its speed
and full Web access.
What do you mean when you say the
“real” Web?
THE REAL WEB: While you can access
the Web wirelessly on other
devices, only the PocketSurfer™
allows you to see the Web just
like you would on your desktop –
unaltered Web access without
‘scrunching’ content through Web
clipping, transcoding or
reformatting. It is - the first
complete, yet truly mobile, view
of the Web, the PocketSurfer’s™
larger screen delivers an
experience similar to that of the
desktop — through a full
VGA-width, 640-pixel, color
screen, compared to 320 pixels on
most PDAs and 120 pixels on most
wireless phones.
How many models of PocketSurfer™ are
available?
One PocketSurfer™ model is
available with multiple Bluetooth®
adapters for most handsets.
Will Wireless-Broadband-Access
negate the need for PocketSurfer’s™
solution?
PocketSurfer’s™ technology becomes
more valuable with the
introduction of next generation
higher-bandwidth networks because
it will still offer faster
Web-access over alternative
solutions, and at a lower cost of
usage.
How big is it?
Just like the name implies,
PocketSurfer™ is small enough to
fit into your pocket. Its sleek
design measures 5.98 inches by
2.97 inches by .58 inches (with
case closed).
How fast is it?
SPEED: PocketSurfer™ users will be
able to access the Web in its
original HTML content, with the
original layout and full graphics
in seconds. PocketSurfer™ offers a
full Web experience in a matter of
seconds, faster than most PDAs or
other wireless devices. Most pages
will download in less than seven
seconds, and even faster on 2.5
and 3G networks.
How is it powered?
A lithium ion rechargeable
battery keeps the device powered
through active usage for four to
six hours. An A/C power adapter is
included with the device.
Does it have a touch-screen?
The device uses a
thumb-keyboard instead of touch
screen.
What is the size and quality
of the screen?
The color screen ‘s viewing
dimensions are 12.5 x 5cms (5 x
2in). The screens are
transreflective, which makes the
display screen slightly reflective
allowing a clearer image even
under direct sunlight. The screen
has a resolution of 640 pixels x
240 pixels.
What type of keyboard does the
PocketSurfer™ have?
A full “QWERTY” thumb keyboard,
which allows for fast data entry.
What OS (Operating System)
does the PocketSurfer™ use?
The ‘Web’ is the OS for the
Pocket Surfer.
If there is an update in the
software of this product, will I be
able to download it?
You do not need to worry about
upgrading the software as
technology improves or fixes are
implemented for known bugs.
Software upgrades are
automatically conducted online in
the background transparent to you.
Is it only available in
English?
Because the Web is available in
all languages, the PocketSurfer™
supports all languages across the
Web. Input is only available in
English.
What can I do with the PocketSurfer™?
With the PocketSurfer™ you can
perform any function that you
would normally do using any Web
browser. Write emails, read your
company email (as long as it can
be accessed through the Web?),
check your stock, purchase
tickets, shop, make reservations,
chat, use a currency converter,
read the news, and so on. It also
provides you with basic PDA
functions on the Web that can also
be registered in your unit.
Does the device offer any other
applications, such as the Microsoft
Office Suite?
No. PocketSurfer™ is a Web viewer
only. Consumers can use it to
access everything they normally
would on the Web such as an
infinite variety of communication
(email & messaging), content
(news, weather, sports,
entertainment) and commerce
applications (finance, sales force
automation, field service,
auctions, shopping).
Can I transfer my files with this
device?
The PocketSurfer™ is designed to
provide a true Web experience but
does not provide space for you to
download files or software to view
them offline. It is possible
however to forward emails that
already contain an attached file.
All the other functions like
writing email, searching over the
net, purchasing items, chatting,
etc, are available using the
PocketSurfer™.
Can I play games on the device?
While board games will work on the
device, fast-moving flash games
may not be appropriate.
Will video work on the device?
While video will work, due to
limitations of current cellular
networks, the speed is only 2 or 3
seconds per frame (network
dependent).
Will audio work on the device?
The PocketSurfer™ does not
currently support Internet based
audio players.
Can I print from this device?
For the moment the printing option
is not available for the
PocketSurfer™.
Can I download/upload/attach
documents?
The PocketSurfer™ is a
Web-browsing unit that delivers
the true Internet experience. On
the Web, there are specific sites
that offer space for you to
download documents, software,
attachments, and etc. that you
will be able to access later from
any other computer.
Does the PocketSurfer™ require a
cellular phone?
Yes. The PocketSurfer™ uses
virtually any cellular phone as
its modem to access the Internet.
What cell phone do I require for
this device to work?
PocketSurfer™ works with virtually
all wireless phones. There is no
specific brand or model that is
required for the PocketSurfer™.

to the cell phone?
The PocketSurfer™ Web viewer
connects to handsets wirelessly
via Bluetooth® technology. Access
is provided through virtually any
wireless network provider.
What if my phone isn’t Bluethooth
enabled?
Adapters will be available for
most phones that are not
Bluetooth® enabled.
Can I connect the PocketSurfer™ to
my desk top pc?
The PocketSurfer™ does not have a
connector to a PC because there is
no document sharing firmware. The
unit is independent and
autonomous.
Does the PocketSurfer™ work with
Prepaid Phones opposed to Post Paid
Phones?
Yes, if your prepaid phone is
data-capable and internet-capable
it will work.
Will it work with any cell phone
provider?

virtually any cell phone provider.
In most cases, your wireless
carrier will allow you to use your

advantage of any free
evening/weekend minutes that maybe
available as part of your plan.

their updated pricing plans for
minutes or megabytes.
Can I change my cell phone and/or
cellular provider at anytime?
PocketSurfer™ works with virtually
any cell phone provider and
handset. Changing your carrier or
handset equipment should not
impact the PocketSurfer™ unit. New
handsets may require a new
Bluetooth® adapter.
Do I need any other service with my
cell phone provider in order to use
the PocketSurfer™?
In most cases, your wireless
carrier will allow you to use your
minutes without activation of a
data plan. You maybe able to take
advantage of any free
evening/weekend minutes that maybe

why is there an additional monthly
fee?
The monthly fee charged by the ISP
is for internet access, while your
cellular carrier charges you to
use their network.

service providers (ISPs)?

permits the PocketSurfer to
display full-content Web pages
requires a unique ISP that is
especially equipped to provide
this service.
